Palm Beach IT Users Group, 11 Apr 17

Comments from group co-ordinator:
I thank everyone who was in attendance at last night's meeting!
Paul led us through a switch tour at Windstream, where we saw the guts of their network architecture, PCM equipment,  brand new 3-phase battery backup room, and possible birthplace of a new fixed wireless.

Hersel showed us how Windstream's SD-WAN (Software-Defined Wide Area Network) will have big benefits for  retail locations, and medium-large clients in the mid sized market. With 2 available circuits and BYOB, network traffic is automatically monitored for performance metrics, prioritized, and de-prioritized with Dynamic Multi-Path Optimization.

Jennifer and Hersel exemplified how their SD-WAN uses ISP's efficiently and inexpensively as a cost-effective alternative to MPLS for small to medium businesses.

A special thanks for Jennifer Cohen, Hersel Guerra, and Paul for hosting us at Windstream, providing the group with dinner, and for showing us their evolutionary SD-WAN and awesome array of switch equipment!

For those of you that weren't present, you missed a personal tour of the really incredible Windstream Switch.  Sorry, no cameras in there.
After, the presentation and discussion, see Photo Essay.
